Fiber Geek

Today I thought I'd post a bit about me.

I'm a self proclaimed fiber geek. I have been for years. When I was seven my grandma taught me to knit. I also learned how to cork, which looks like I-cord that knitters can make. As a teen I didn't knit or do much, but over the years I started to knit again and have been teaching myself how to crochet. Then I joined the SCA. That would be The Society for Creative Anachronism. There I got to learn more about fiber arts. I learned to spin my own yarns, which is something I love to do. It can be very meditative and relaxing. I now own three drop spindles and one spinning wheel, and I have a different kind of spinning wheel on loan. My two favorite fibers to spin are Alpaca, and Merino. They are both super soft.
My time in the SCA I also learned to Nailbind. That's like single needle knitting, and unlike knitting if something eventually get's a hole in it, it doesn't completely unravel. I've made a few hats and a pair of mittens. Being that I only use 100% natural fibers when nailbinding things tend to wear well and breathe!
About four or five years ago I lucked into a loom. It was built in Quebec Canada around 1935. Its in amazing shape all things considered. The first year I had it I wove scarfs for all my young cousins. And one doll blanket for my kids. Unfortuntatly due to the massive size of the loom I had to take it apart and store it for a bit. It is now back together in my basement, but I've not had time to warp it yet and start another project.

I also sew. Not quite as much of a fiber art as all the other things I do, but still I enjoy it most of the time.

So I do all these things and think why not share the items I love to make. So that's why I opened my etsy shop. To share my love of fiber arts.

Recycled Bags

With the sale of two of my recycled bags I found only one left in my etsy shop. So into my file and I found the new photos of the smaller bag I had made. So I listed it in the etsy shop. It's 1/2 the price of one of the larger bags.

I have a few none etsy projects I'm working on that I need to finish this week and then I think I'm going to have to make a few more of those recycled bags!

Don't know what I'm talking about? Go by the shop and have a look at my bags!

Sales!

I'm having an exciting week. Two days ago one of my recycled bags sold. Today another bag sold. I'm thrilled that both items that sold this week were my recycled bags! I love making them from recycled materials!

Item Listings

I've managed to keep up with listing new items almost every day. Today I listed a gently used polar fleece figure skating dress. My youngest daughter wore it for less than one skating season. Putting polar fleece dresses on younger skaters just makes so much sense to me. It's warmer and some of the younger kids just are not moving enough to really keep warm. Yet they want to look like the big kids and wear a skate dress.

I have two smaller sized polar fleece dresses listed on the site. I can do custom orders for these as well.

tomorrow's listing will likely be a pink polar fleece skate dress. Girls size 7.
