Today I thought I'd post a bit about me.
I'm a self proclaimed fiber geek. I have been for years. When I was seven my grandma taught me to knit. I also learned how to cork, which looks like I-cord that knitters can make. As a teen I didn't knit or do much, but over the years I started to knit again and have been teaching myself how to crochet. Then I joined the SCA. That would be The Society for Creative Anachronism. There I got to learn more about fiber arts. I learned to spin my own yarns, which is something I love to do. It can be very meditative and relaxing. I now own three drop spindles and one spinning wheel, and I have a different kind of spinning wheel on loan. My two favorite fibers to spin are Alpaca, and Merino. They are both super soft.
My time in the SCA I also learned to Nailbind. That's like single needle knitting, and unlike knitting if something eventually get's a hole in it, it doesn't completely unravel. I've made a few hats and a pair of mittens. Being that I only use 100% natural fibers when nailbinding things tend to wear well and breathe!
About four or five years ago I lucked into a loom. It was built in Quebec Canada around 1935. Its in amazing shape all things considered. The first year I had it I wove scarfs for all my young cousins. And one doll blanket for my kids. Unfortuntatly due to the massive size of the loom I had to take it apart and store it for a bit. It is now back together in my basement, but I've not had time to warp it yet and start another project.
I also sew. Not quite as much of a fiber art as all the other things I do, but still I enjoy it most of the time.
So I do all these things and think why not share the items I love to make. So that's why I opened my etsy shop. To share my love of fiber arts.

Recycled Bags
With the sale of two of my recycled bags I found only one left in my etsy shop. So into my file and I found the new photos of the smaller bag I had made. So I listed it in the etsy shop. It's 1/2 the price of one of the larger bags.
I have a few none etsy projects I'm working on that I need to finish this week and then I think I'm going to have to make a few more of those recycled bags!
Don't know what I'm talking about? Go by the shop and have a look at my bags!

Sales!
I'm having an exciting week. Two days ago one of my recycled bags sold. Today another bag sold. I'm thrilled that both items that sold this week were my recycled bags! I love making them from recycled materials!

Item Listings
I've managed to keep up with listing new items almost every day. Today I listed a gently used polar fleece figure skating dress. My youngest daughter wore it for less than one skating season. Putting polar fleece dresses on younger skaters just makes so much sense to me. It's warmer and some of the younger kids just are not moving enough to really keep warm. Yet they want to look like the big kids and wear a skate dress.
I have two smaller sized polar fleece dresses listed on the site. I can do custom orders for these as well.
tomorrow's listing will likely be a pink polar fleece skate dress. Girls size 7.

The Shop
Don't mind me as I do a little happy dance about getting up to 12 listings in my etsy shop. 2 Figure Skating Dresses, 4 scarves, 3 recycled bags, and 3 skeins of yarn. All the bags are one of a kind, so when they sell they really are gone.
What I would love to see now are some sales! If you've been to my shop and not made a purchase I would love to hear why. Even if it's just that there was nothing that interested you, but I would love to hear with that, what you were looking for. I can only make the shop better with good feedback!

The Shop and Plans
Yesterday I listed one of my Recycled Shopping Bags to the shop. It's made from grocery bags, that I've cut and crochet into a stronger more durable bag. I had a commission for one last spring but not through my etsy shop. I finally delivered it this week to a very happy teacher at my daughters school.
I've also noted that my crafting supplies are in three different location in the house. This can make life difficult to find and complete crafts. And if you take into account that my loom is in the basement then I have supplies in four locations.
Having been permanently laid off from my job, I think I'm going to try and take the time to clear out my 1/2 of the basement and get organized. Being able to have all my craft stuff in one location would make things so much easier. The only things I don't think I'll get downstairs right away would be the two spinning wheels I have. But it would be nice to not have to pack everything up because the kids are on their way home from school.
If I do get my craft space organized, there will be photos posted.

Open For Buisness
I'm back!
Yes, that's right I'm back and the shop is open for business again. Yesterday I listed 4 scarf's and 2 single skeins of Yarn and one back of 3 skeins.
I'm continually looking to improve my shop and my products and would love to get creative criticism and feed back about my shop that I can put to use.
